Autumn Equinox at Sighthill Stone Circle

by Duncan Lunan - 09:59 on 16 September 2013

At 19:00 hrs on the evening of Sunday 22nd September, Druid and Pagan groups will gather at the stone circle in Sighthill Park, the first astronomical megalith to be erected in the UK for at least 3000 years, for what may be a farewell ceremony at sunset on the Autumn Equinox.

No date has yet been announced for the stone circle’s removal, but at a meeting on 4th July 2013 with Duncan Lunan, the designer and builder of the circle in 1979, and other campaigners, Council officials confirmed that it is definitely to be removed.

The petition to save the stones is within 180 of its target 5000 signatures, and officials have promised on a number of occasions that efforts will be made to remove the stones intact and reuse them elsewhere.

All are welcome to attend.
